Have You Ended up Where You Expected at 18?

We had a lovely write up in Farm Week this week - thank you Ian Harvey. Lovely words about our business and journey and made very beautiful by the gorgeous photos from Sharon Cosgrove Photography & Johnny Frazer

It’s made me reflect on the fact that when I was younger I never imagined I’d end up running a business that would be written up in a farming newspaper. When I left Northern Ireland at 18 I had a vision that I’d become a barrister and swan around London with a Chanel handbag - hopefully looking a bit like Carrie Bradshaw. I was going to study law and obviously had no idea how little barristers (who are also self-employed) are paid at the beginning of their careers.

And for lots of reasons I didn’t think I’d ever come back and live in Northern Ireland.

But there has been lots of shifts in my aspirations and desires since then. And LOTS of changes in Northern Ireland too. And I must say I’m so happy to be living here and being part of the food, regenerative/community farming and creative business community here. We feel so supported by our community, customers & volunteers (many who have become brilliant friends) and just very glad to be looking after this little slice of countryside for the future.

Have you ended up where you expected when you were 18? I’d love to hear?
