Before the seasons change, join us for one last celebration of summer around the table. Inspired by the warmth and generosity of Mediterranean dining (and a recent trip to the fascinating city of Bilbao), this supper club is an evening dedicated to the late summer harvest, shared plates and the simple pleasure of eating together.
Think sun-soaked flavours; smoky prawns, juicy piri piri chicken, caramelised onions with tomatoes and crispy capers, charred vegetables, heaping salads, fresh herbs, juicy stone fruits and a decadent Basque cheesecake to finish, a menu designed to capture the abundance of late August. Expect generous plates, relaxed conversation and a feast that captures the feeling of lingering summer evenings before Autumn arrives.
I’ll be hosting this supper club in the beautiful Mother of the Woods Retreat. Located between Saintfield and Lisburn this is a gorgeous Georgian house and retreat centre owned and run by Essential Nature Yoga.
Summer’s End Supper Club: A Mediterranean Feast @ Mother of the Woods Retreat
Friday 28th & Saturday 29th August 2026
On arrival:
White sangria with summer fruits and mint
Classic Basque Gildas - olive, anchovy & pickled chilli
Peach, Parma ham, basil & ricotta crostini
To start:
Smoky prawns with garlic & chilli butter, charred nectarine, cauliflower puree & crispy scallions
Sourdough toasts
(with smoky roasted squash for the veggies)
The main event:
Piri piri chicken with fennel and citrus slaw
Tomato and caramelised onion tart with thyme and crispy capers
Lemon & rosemary roast potatoes
Courgettes, white beans and basil with fried pine nuts & mozzarella
Charred corn, blueberry, cucumber and lime chopped salad
For pudding:
White chocolate Basque cheesecake, macerated cherries, blackberry sorbet and caramelised almonds
The drinks: This event is BYO. Please bring a bottle (or more) of your favourite tipple. A welcome drink will be provided on arrival and there will be still water kept topped up on the tables all evening.
The time: 7pm on Friday 28th or Saturday 29th August 2026. If you are planning on booking a taxi or organising a lift we’d suggest organising that for 10.30pm.
The place: Mother of the Woods Retreat, 31 Back Road, Cargacreevy, Lisburn , BT27 6TR (please see the event confirmation email for full details on how to find the venue - but DO NOT go to the Back Road in Drumbo)
The cost: £60 per person (includes booking fees), for a three-course menu plus a few extras.
Keeping warm: This event will be hosted inside the beautiful dining spaces at Mother of the Woods. Weather permitting we may serve drinks outside or light the firepit at the end of the evening so please bring an extra layer or two to keep you cosy.
Seating: You will be seated with other guests. If you are not comfortable sitting with other people then please do not book tickets as unfortunately, we do not have the capacity to seat groups separately.
Dietary Requirements: This menu is suitable for vegetarians and for gluten free guests. Unfortunately, for this menu we cannot cater for dairy free or vegan guests.
For all other dietary requirements let us know when you book and we’ll try our best to accommodate you.
Cancellation Policy: We have recently updated our cancellation policy and we now charge an administrative fee for cancellations up to one week in advance of the event. If you cancel less than one week before the event we cannot offer a refund unless we can resell your tickets. All tickets are transferable if you can find another guest to come in your place.
